After spending 8 years working as an analyst programmer in Worcester, the opportunity arose to take a slight change in my career path. My wife went back to work full time, whilst I took over the childcare duties of our two boys. With one at school and the other at nursery 2 days a week I had the free time to set up Top Spin Web Design.
I had been building the odd web site for friends over the years and the thought of doing this as a career and being my own boss appealed to me.
My two main design goals in building a web site are firstly that it should be useable by and accessible to as many people as possible and secondly that it should be quick and easy to update. The first goal is achieved by ensuring that the code is standard compliant, largely by using XHTML and CSS. The second goal is also achieved in this way, but also by building database driven web sites. Database driven sites, in my case using PHP and MySQL, allow functionality such as content management systems (CMS) and image galleries, thus allowing you to update your own site.
A unique selling point of commissioning Top Spin Web Design to build your web site is the fact that two-thirds of our total household electricity is produced by the PV (Photovoltaic) solar panels sitting on the roof of our house.
Thus, the time spent working on my computer adds very little CO2 to the environment, which is a major cause of global warming. If you'd like your internet site to demonstrate your green credentials, then maybe Top Spin Web Design is the answer.
